Review Friday: Sandwiches
Today’s review is going to be on a rather fantastic deal I found in some of the little shops in Kingston. For us students anyway.
There are three or four places offering this deal to students (Monday to Friday only, so don’t count on it if you’re on Saturday).
£2.50 for any baguette, wrap or panini and a can of drink or a bottle of water if you are a student.
Depending on the baguette you choose this means you get a free drink (for example if you get a vegetable panini which is about £2.50 by itself), or a reduced drink (the BLT and a few others are only £2.20, so you’re paying 30p for a can, which still isn’t too bad) and if you fancy something expensive it’s a really good deal (Chicken Escalope is £3.00 by itself I think.)
This first picture is of the place that I’ve been to a few times over the past few weeks (the green one in the middle).

There is a third opposite this one (no picture, as it was raining).
All these shops are located down Castle Street. (Castle St on the map, notice I have labeled the sandwiches for you.)
The food is pretty good (although make sure you grab some mints from the newsagents around the corner if you have onions or the garlic mayo), not Subway quality, but then it is cheaper (for me, as I get the foot long subs with a meal deal. Normally about £5.40 or something).
They have a wide variety of fillings, like Chicken Escalope, Vegetable (mushroom, tomato, onion, mozzarella), BLT (classic), prawn and avocado to name a few (well, four).
I’ve had a few from the green one. I’ve had Bacon and fried egg (tasty with a bit of ketchup, freshly cooked bacon, still warm), BLT (fresh bacon, still warm, BLT is a classic anyway. Little bit of mayo on this one), and a vegetable panini (very nice). I’m still alive, they tasted good, so I’d recommend.
Summary:
I’d recommend it if you want an inexpensive lunch in Kingston.

- Not as good as Subway
- Not on campus
