Presenting: Cyriaks random (and slightly creepy) animations!

Friday, October 26th, 2007

This video is a collection of animation shorts created by Cyriak [cyriak.com], set to one of his musical creations (sounds like 80’s or 90’s video game synth music).

I was first introduced to Cyriaks work when someone showed me a gif of this video [youtube.com]. I forgot about it until the animation mix found it’s way to the front page of Digg [Digg.com]. I then saw some of his work in a promo for Totally Viral [UKTV.co.uk], a new show made of small viral internet videos that is shown at 11pm on Dave on Friday’s. It features titles and music by Weebls stuff.com [weebls-stuff.com] another funny website, home to Weebl and Bob and Magical Trevor.

Note: This post has been re-written as a) this theme doesn’t play nicely with youtube videos b) they removed the original video from youtube and c) wordpress keeps eating my code.

Review Friday: Chinese Wispas

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Okay, bad puns aside THE WISPAS ARE BACK!

Cadbury’s answer to the Aero, removed from our stores back in 2003 was re-released on the 8th of October in an initial run of 23 Million.

That’s only one for every 2 and a half people in the country. And I’ve eaten two!

Giant Crisp.

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

It was bought to my attention that a rival blogger has found a huge chip [splars.com].
I present to you my giant crisp.

Giant crisp

This crisp has resided in my airing cupboard for 3 or 4 years, and is preserved by a stupid amount of salt. It is my hope that people will worship it in the future.

… are a bitch to compose. But they can look stunning when they’re finished. Mine didn’t =/

The below image is composed of 4 shots taken with my N95 while I was in Lyme Regis today. It’s been a long weekend, traveling to and from Devon, so I’ll just post this one now, although I’ll stitch and adjust some more huge images and post those into the gallery over the next week.

Thee below image was semi-automatically stitched together by a program called DoubleTake for Mac OS X. I had to adjust some rotation on a couple of shots to make the horizon line up, then crop and rotate the final image in another editing package. The colours are all out, as I left the N95 in ‘auto’ mode, which means it changed the white balance and altered a few other settings, so the colour looks different across the image, which kind of ruins it. That and you can see where it’s stitched (in two places anyway).

Review Friday: Atari 2600

Friday, October 19th, 2007

The iconic video game console of the late 70s and early 80s, the Atari 2600 is still one of my much loved consoles (and last week a second one arrived with some games, so I have a spare). I own one of the first production units, passed down through my family (well, my mum used to play it and I found it in my nan’s house).

In this review I will explain a little about the console, it’s history and look at five games (Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Asteroids, Centipede and Missile Command) with videos of my incredible gaming skills (Ahahah).

N95 GPS

Monday, October 15th, 2007

A quick note to say that the N95 GPS is actually worthwhile, once you set up AGPS (Assisted GPS) [Wikipedia.com] on it.

I can get a good enough lock within 10 seconds now, thanks to this forum post [3G.co.uk].

Edit: went away from my house today, turned it on to test it. It’s good at getting a fast lock some 100 miles to the north of where i am. So still kind of useless.

Buffalo

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

Just thought I’d point this out. So any members of the bison community that read this, shouldn’t go to Buffalo.

Review Friday: Sandwiches

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Today’s review is going to be on a rather fantastic deal I found in some of the little shops in Kingston. For us students anyway.

She wants revenge

No, not an ex-girlfriend, but a darkwave group I’d like to draw your attention to.

I won’t do this often as many people dislike hearing about others musical tastes.

A combination of vintage hip hop style vocals, a hypnotic beat and sexy lyrics, dealing with (well, parodying) the angst of teenagers, like meeting girls and first dates, create a fantastic, unique group.

So you can hear them (and hopefully understand the previous statement) I have created short samples (acceptable under fair use policy) of a few of their tracks. You can listen to them using the little flash MP3 player (from MyFlashFetish) below. Click the little triangle to select a new sample.

I made this music playlist at MyFlashFetish.com.

Review Friday: Nokia N95

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Okay, every Friday I will review something. It maybe my phone, a shop, a place or something I’ve had for a long time. Who knows.

Anyway on with the first review. The Nokia N95.

I purchased one of these ’smartphones’ (or mobile computers as Nokia likes to call them) at the end of August, on the Three network, simply because of the unlimited data package they offer (their X-series [Three.com] packages). As this phone has a very capable web browser and mail client it would be silly not to use them, or very costly at the end of the month if you had to pay for data.
